Valentines

Great creative artists know how to take advantage of serendipity in their work. This collection of Valentines is a case in point. When it turned out that Carol Wincenc s Naumberg Retrospective Concert fell on February 14th, inspiration hit. She called upon composers that had written other works or concertos for her and said, How would you like to write a Valentine? This collection is the magical result. A variety of styles and moods by some of today s finest composers, including Arnold Black, Lukas Foss, Henryk Gorecki, Tobias Picker, Christopher Rouse, Peter Schickele, Paul Shoenfield, Roberto Sierra, Michael Torke, and Joan Tower.
